I saw the meme to the right a few days ago posted on social media. I saw the number of likes and then went to the comments to see if anyone saw what I saw and it gave me much hope to see one comment among the many which agreed with what I saw.
One of the statements I made in Time To Really Live Free was:
The only tension you will ever find in scripture is when someone is trying mix law and grace or the Old and New Covenant together.
Chapter 7, pgs. 47-48
The meme to the right is the perfect example of this. “Just follow your heart” is not false in the Old Testament. It is found in Jeremiah 17:9. But my question is what does the church always tell you the place Jesus comes to live in the New Testament?
I am going to leave that an open question and not answer it here because I have the answer laid out in one of my chapters. What I do want to say is that I have written an entire chapter in Time To Really Live Free entitled, “Is The Flesh Really All That Bad?”(Chapter 11). I devote this whole chapter to explain the mind, heart, spirit, soul and flesh. I also go into detail with the scripture from Luke 10:25-28 which brought me so much freedom.
Saying all of this, I am careful with what I agree with. I read carefully and listen carefully. I now have warning bells that go off within myself warning me there is mixture. God wants each of us as New Covenant Believers to do the same. He wants us walking in the freedom his son brought to each one of us. There is not one set of rules to get into the kingdom and another set of rules to stay in the kingdom. This is clearly pointed out in my second book, The Door Is Open.
May God fill you with his understanding, truth, great hope and love, Darlene
