A Little Bit of Leaven-10 of 10

In my book, The Door Is Open, I discuss several signs of antichrist or anti-messiah behaviors, beginning with the scripture from Matthew 23:4-38 in The Message translation. Let’s delve into the ninth sign, as described in verses 29-38 of Matthew 23:

““You’re hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You build granite tombs for your prophets and marble monuments for your saints. And you say that if you had lived in the days of your ancestors, no blood would have been on your hands. You protest too much! You’re cut from the same cloth as those murderers, and daily add to the death count. “Snakes! Cold-blooded sneaks! Do you think you can worm your way out of this? Never have to pay the piper? It’s on account of people like you that I send prophets and wise guides and scholars generation after generation—and generation after generation you treat them like dirt, greeting them with lynch mobs, hounding them with abuse. “You can’t squirm out of this: Every drop of righteous blood ever spilled on this earth, beginning with the blood of that good man Abel right down to the blood of Zechariah, Barachiah’s son, whom you murdered at his prayers, is on your head. All this, I’m telling you, is coming down on you, on your generation. “Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Murderer of prophets! Killer of the ones who brought you God’s news! How often I’ve ached to embrace your children, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you wouldn’t let me. And now you’re so desolate, nothing but a ghost town.’””‭MSG‬‬

The same holds true for the modern-day church. We witness martyrs around the world being killed, but also see a different kind of martyrdom today—one where individuals are smeared, discredited, abused, lied about, and shunned, all in an attempt to silence a message from God. This behavior is fundamentally anti-Christ or anti-Messiah, executed by those who cling to their positions of power out of love for authority or fear of losing it.

These individuals will face accountability, as I discuss the principle of sowing and reaping in both of my books. However, we as a community must not blindly trust someone merely because of their title or position. One of my favorite biblical verses is from Proverbs 25:2:

“It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.” ESV‬‬

And if we recall the teachings of the New Covenant, we are all considered kings and priests due to Christ’s sacrifice:

“And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.””‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I hope you have enjoyed exploring these ten signs. If you’re interested in delving deeper, I encourage you to pick up copies of both my books (see below for links) to discover true freedom in Christ, which He died to provide.
